Study #6 :: Last Field Study :: November 30, 2015

 The time is currently 3:28 p.m. The times for sunrise and sunset today are 7:54 a.m. and 5:11 p.m. The high today was 41 degrees and the low was 38 degrees. It is currently 40 degrees. Today was sunny with clear skies until the end of the day when it became more cloudy. There has still been very little snow here. I hear little to no wildlife, and there is a slight breeze. I'm not really sure what that giant metal thing is in the middle of my last picture. My field study spot has changed significantly since my first picture. Much of the leaves have changed and fallen, and some of the branches were knocked down from fall storms.

Study # 5 :: The Leaves Disappeared! :: November 15, 2015

The time is currently 5:19 and the sun is setting. It gets dark much earlier now, and the times for sunrise and sunset today are 7:37 a.m. and 5:19 p.m. The high today was 58 degrees and the low was 50 degrees. It is currently 53 degrees. Today was really beautiful: sunny, not too cold and clear skies. Although many of the trees have lost most of their leaves, the temperatures do not feel as though we are getting closer to winter. I hear much less of the birds at my field study spot, and right now I don't hear any. Much of the ground in the woods is less green much like the trees. You can see a lot more of my neighborhood without the leaves on the trees. The smell in the air reminds me of winter, if that makes any sense. I feel like without as many plants and things that remind me of fall and summer, the absence of there smells reminds me of winter.

Study #4 :: Boys in Their Hideout / Fall Trees :: October 26, 2015

It is currently 5:05 P.M. The weather is 60 degrees and sunny. The high temperature today was 62 degrees and the low temperature was 36 degrees. The sunrise was 8:11 A.M. and the sunset will be 6:47 P.M. The top picture is of my neighbors who like to play in the woods. They made a teepee again that's hard to see from the image, but consists of a bunch of branches all leaned together. There are a lot less leaves on the trees than normal on my plot, and I can hear a lot of birds today. I also hear many lawnmowers and leaf blowers in the distance. I can also hear my dog barking all the way back at my house in my yard.

Study #3 :: Changing Leaves :: October 11, 2015

It is currently 5:34 P.M. The high temperature today was 71 degrees and the low was 50 degrees. The current temperature is 65 degrees and the weather is partly cloudy. The sun rose this morning at 7:57 A.M. and the sun will set at 6:54 P.M. There is very little movement in the woods today, and I haven't heard any birds. I hear some of the leaves rustling, and on the way to my plot I saw a bunny! The leaves have changed in color significantly since the last time I came to my field study spot. The photo in the upper-right hand corner is of me in my field study spot. The lower-left hand corner is a close up of some fallen leaves.

Study #2 :: Hideouts :: September 29, 2015

**Posted September 30, 2015**

It is currently 6:15 P.M. It is currently partly cloudy and 65 degrees. The high temperature today was 67 degrees, and the low was 50 degrees. The sun rose at 7:40:12 A.M. this morning, and the sun will set at 7:26:18 P.M. making the day length 11 hours and 44 minutes. The smell is beginning to remind me of fall. That smell you can't really describe, but the air feels almost more pure. I don't here many birds, but there are some squirrels above me. Last time, I heard some objects dropping from above and they are coming from the same place now. When I look up, I see a cluster that looks like a nest. I'm wondering if this belongs to the squirrels or the birds. (This can be seen in the picture in the bottom left corner). The small middle picture is the remains of the boy's hideout. I love that they enjoy to play back here because my neighbors and I used to play here all the time. Until I started this field study, I hadn't been back here in years! The picture in the bottom right corner is some leaves above that are beginning to change. Fall is starting!

Study #1 :: Trees and Teepees :: September 15, 2015

Time: 5:51 P.M.

The weather forecast today is a high of 82 degrees and a low of 52 degrees. It is currently about 80 degrees, but it is a little bit breezy. The length of the day is 12:29:12 with the sunrise at 6:56:32 A.M. and 8:22:19 P.M. is the time of sunset. The smell here always smells like the beach. There's some beach grass and sand, which I think contributes to the smell that provokes my memories of the beach. However, there are a lot of evergreen trees. This adds the sappy smells of pines. I here lots of squirrels back here, and I believe I saw a crow just fly away from a tree. I here lots of different kinds of birds. I also keep hearing a dropping noise of small objects hitting the ground. I'm wondering if this is from an animal, or if these are the sounds of nuts and acorns falling from trees by themselves. It is coming from a general spot, and there is some rustling from up above, so I believe a squirrel might be causing this to happen. The boys across the street have built a teepee and are playing behind me. They have asked me not to photograph their secret location, and I'm going to respect their privacy. Though next time I hope to get a picture of the remains of their hideout.
